Ask, tell, just don’t get married

Is Christmas coming early for America’s gay community?

In an odd bit of scheduling, the nation’s two biggest anti-gay-discrimination fights are in the spotlight at about the same time. On Tuesday, the Pentagon issued the report of its “don’t ask, don’t tell” study commission, which supported a repeal of the 1993 statute that excludes openly gay people from military service. The Defense Department is now on record as saying that the law has outlived its usefulness and that allowing gay people to serve openly would not undermine national security.

Apple deletes anti-gay app from App Store after huge uproar

Apple has apparently removed the antigay app the Manhattan Declaration, which called for users to fight marriage equality, from its iTunes store. The decision comes after thousands protested the company’s decision to approve the Manhattan Declaration for download in the first place. Apple has been known to reject good number of gay-related mobile apps, which is part of what frustrated many gay consumers when they learned that an antigay app had been approved.

Senator Joe Lieberman : It’s ok to ask, or tell …

Filed under: Health, Politics — bonerguide @ 4:28 am

You can ask now

Senator Joe Lieberman came out today (only mild pun intended) with a bill to support abolishing the United States’ Military policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell” which restricts homosexuals from military service.

While we are absolutely in favor of any policy that helps create equality for all sexual preferences, we find it interesting that he chose to address one of the few discriminatory polices in which equality could directly lead to one’s death. Curious Senator… curious.

Chinese Gays Won’t Budge

There is a gay community in every country, no matter what way they show it.  In China there is a park in Chinese city of Guangzhou, where gay men meet up for a variety of reasons instead of going to clubs.  Recently 50 members of the gay community refused to leave after police told them that it is “The People’s Park” and not for homosexuals.  The group felt extremely offended that they were being treated as if they were not citizens.  The support eventually doubled to about 100 people when other citizens stopped, both gay and hetero, to support their gay brothers.  The protesters say that if the community was more accepting of them that they would not have to meet up in parks, and bathrooms, to have relationships.  This is due largely to many citizens living with their parents because they can not afford to rent a room, and if more parents were accepting, they would be able to take their boyfriends home.  In previous years gay pride parades where shut down in different cities in China, so they are hoping the more attention that is given the better chance the gay community will be treated equally.
